What is An (S)NVQ Assessor?
An (S)NVQ Assessor is appointed by an approved centre to assess a learner’s ability against set qualifications.
All assessors, whether in-house or not, must themselves be qualified with either their D32/D33 or the new A1/A2 units. Assessors gather evidence and make observations of the learner. Assessors can only assess in (S)NVQs that match their own personal Occupational Competence. An Assessor can only assess in (S)NVQs in which they have personal work experience and background usually at a Supervisor level.
How do I become an Assessor?
You need to have the right level of experience or 'occupational competence' and have an A1 Assessor qualification. Most Colleges or Training Providers ask for at least three years experience, with at least one year in a supervisory role. Many employers are willing to recruit people with the right level of occupational competence and provide the training to attain their A1 qualification.
